Before Shopping this Holiday Season, Calculate your environmental impact

Use the hints below to reduce your carbon footprint.
Christmas Recycling Ideas for Decorations or Gifts
   1. The shopping Trip

Take some time to think about the environmental effects of your shopping this year. Where possible, make changes to help protect the environment.
  • Plan your shopping ahead of time to cut down on trips to different locations.
  • Take the bus to your local shopping center
  • Shop early and consolidate trips. Call ahead and make sure the item you want is on stock
  • Carpool with others to save on gas
  • Use your own shopping bag. Many stores give discounts for bringing your own bag.
  • Consolidate purchases into one bag.
  • Decline a bag if you only have a small purchase.
  • Shop electronically or by catalog from home.

Going Green for St Patty's Day!

Dress up a collection of pretty green glass bottles by wrapping them with copper wire. Use your imagination to create designs that suit your fancy. Twist copper craft or jeweler's wire (available at crafts stores) into net patterns. Or wrap wire around the middle of a bottle, secure in the back, and form a button-like knot in front by twisting a short length of wire around the bands.
