RecycleMania 2009

RecycleMania 09 is in full swing and there are some interesting milestones to point out. There are 510 colleges and universities participating this year, a 25% increase over 2008. More significantly, the list of schools represents for the first time all 50 of the United States. Pennsylvania again claims the top slot with 48 schools, followed by New York and California with 37 each. MISSOURI has 10 schools participating (see below). Also for the first time we are joined by schools outside the United States, including five universities in Canada and the Rajarambapu Institute of Technology in Islampur in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

It's important to remember that the markets have always fluctuated - much like the stock market. Overseas demand drove markets to historic, unsustainable highs the past few years and a market correction was inevitable. One market that has remained strong is glass, according to Carrie Ray with Strategic Materials. While the market for other commodities is down, it is important to remember that it will eventually get better.
