2009 MORA Annual Conference - St. Louis

RIDE THE GREEN WAVE will be the theme of MORA's annual state conference June 8-10 at the Sheraton St. Louis City Center. The program has extensive offerings covering a broad range of topics. Details and conference registration can be found below. Early bird registration ends May 8.

Keynote Speaker:
Monday morning will feature Lindsay James as the keynote speaker. Ms. James is the Manager of Sustainable Strategy for Interface and will provide a valuable message to the participants.
Featured Speakers:
Tuesday you can learn from Mike Newton-Ward and Andy Likes, two nationally known presenters on social marking concepts.
Wednesday you have the opportunity to meet the new Director of Mo Department of Natural Resources, Mark Templeton. Hear his ideas for the direction of Mo. DNR.
Educational/Technical Sessions:
This is the most exciting and diverse track of sessions ever offered to MORA members. Discover new and innovative programs from basic recycling to advanced participation. Topics include: Recycling 101, Resource Exchange, Curbside Recycling, Recycle Bank, Residential Green Building, Market Conditions, Commercial Single Stream, Recycled Material, Social Marketing, Waste Composition Studies, Battery Recycling, E-Scrap, Construction and Demolition Recovery, Region L program updates, and much more…... Select by topic or by track.
Annual Awards Presentation and Luncheon:
Each year, MORA recognizes outstanding recycling and waste reduction efforts of individuals and organizations in Missouri. Award winners will be recognized during the annual conference at the Sheraton St. Louis on Tuesday, June 9 during the awards luncheon. Congratulations to all of our nominees for your environmental accomplishments!
Tours:
Spend Tuesday afternoon touring different recovery efforts and sustainable practices happening in the St. Louis area.
Tour #1 – Visit Mo. Botanical Garden and their Plastic Pot Recycling Ctr., and an EarthWays Home Tour – an education and resource center for sustainability

Session Information

Education sessions involve over 25 presenters and will run Monday and Tuesday. Session topics include:

The conference will peak at the annual awards luncheon at which individuals, organizations and businesses will be recognized for their efforts across the state. The awards luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, 6/9.

As Manager of Sustainable Strategy, Lindsay is responsible for translating Interface's leadership in sustainability into
the marketplace. Much of her time is spent educating Interface's clients, sales force, and employees
about the sustainability of its products and practices. As a "student of sustainability" for more than
10 years, Lindsay is passionate about educating people both inside and outside of Interface on sustainability or "green" issues.
