MORA Committees and Liaisons

Current MORA Committees

To best accomplish our priorities, goals and objectives, MORA must operate with a strong committee structure. Board leadership is critical -- both in sustaining effective committees and in encouraging MORA members to participate on committees.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee works to develop membership and member services. Current emphasis is to explore the ideas of conducting training workshops and/or certification courses, developing a list of statewide events for MORA exhibits and reorganizing MORA's membership levels.

Committee Co-Chairs:
Kara Dunnam, kdunnam@jeffcomo.org and Steve Fishman, Fishman.steve@epa.gov

Education Outreach Committee

The Education Outreach Committee works to maintain public awareness of recycling issues and MORA. Current targets include a new awareness campaign, expansion and improvement of MORA's website, support for Missouri Recycles Day initiatives and building the foundation for MORA as the statewide network for recycling resources.

Committee Chair:
Jo Ann Dennings, denningsj@missouri.edu

Government Affairs Committee

This committee constantly monitors information on state legislation and other government initiatives for recycling policies. This committee has also been responsible for our annual legislative awareness event held at the Missouri State Capitol.

Committee Chair:
David Beal, dbeal@epcusa.com

MRD/ARD Coordinator

This committee works on Missouri/America Recycles Day activities including our MRD Poster Contest, the MRD calendar etc. Missouri/America Recycles Day - November 15 each year. For news about 2005 prizes and plans for 2006, please go to the national America Recycles web site at http://www.americarecyclesday.org.

Coordinator:
Mary Anne Phillips, MPhillip@joplinmo.org

2008 Conference Committee

Coordinator:
Sue Noel

Current MORA Liaisons

MORA Board members may elect or be elected to serve as liaisons to national or regional recycling initiatives.

State Recycling Organization (SRO) Representative

The State Recycling Organization Rep represents MORA to the National Recycling Coalition. Travel generally includes two out-of-state trips annually. The SRO rep must clearly express MORA's position to the NRC, even if MORA's position does not completely mesh with his/her personal position. The SRO representative must also provide full reports to the MORA Board, and may be required to use creative means of communication.

SRO Representative:
Angie Gehlert, MORA Executive Director

America Recycles Day (ARD) Coordinator

The America Recycles Day Coordinator represents MORA to the National Recycling Association's America Recycles Day initiative. Travel generally includes two out-of-state trips annually. The ARD Coordinator works to promote and coordinate Missouri Recycles Day activities while keeping an eye on national events and initiatives. Lots of Work, lots of rewards.

ARD Coordinator:
Mary Anne Phillips
